Electron Microscopy Frontiers
Conference: 9-11 December 2014

Overview

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the first international symposium organized by the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) dedicated to electron microscopy (EM).

Scheduled to take place in the second week of December, this event gathers some of the best minds in the world for discussions on the state-of-the-art in EM techniques and instrumentation. Kindly sponsored by KAUST and two industrial partners (Gatan and FEI), we have kept the symposium as a small-sized, invitation-only event, in the hope to promote scientific interactions between participants. Additionally, we invite you to celebrate with us the first five years of EM research activities at KAUST as well as progress in the establishment of the EM field in the Middle East.

KAUST is an international, graduate-level research university located on the Red Sea coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 80 km north of Jeddah, the kingdom’s second largest city. Amongst other state-of-the-art facilities, our Imaging Core Lab houses a unique collection of top-end EM instruments. Their daily operation and maintenance is ensured by a dedicated team of expert microscopists and engineers. As you will have the opportunity to see, the campus is surrounded by a vibrant cosmopolitan community which integrates the members of the university and their families.

We look forward to meeting you in Thuwal.
